Full Day Trip to Mount Popa from Bagan
In the morning time our Bagan tour team will pick up from your hotel by air-conditioned vehicle with local Bagan tour guide to enjoy a day trip to Mount Popa. leave the Bagan and heading to Mount Popa in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle and drive about 31 miles (50 km) southeast into the Pegu Range.
Driving day trip to Mount Popa, through the dry flatlands, stopping at a small village en route where locals make a variety of treats from the juice of the palm tree. Watch as the farmers climb the tall toddy trees and tap the fruit, returning to land to boil the liquid into wine and sweet molasses. You can also help grind rice and corn, guiding the oxen as they pull the stone grinder.
Fruit and flower stalls line the roads up to Mount Popa, selling the beautiful golden Champac flowers, which are a symbol of the area. When you reach the top, enjoy panoramic views of the valley. On a clear day, you can see all the way out to the Ayeyarwady River.
Next, climb up a winding covered staircase encircling the mountain, observed by the curious monkeys that live in the area. At the top, reach a monastery and temple complex with shrines to the 37 nats to visit and take in a breathtaking view over the region.
Sometimes, in clear weather, Mount Popa can see all the way from the Ayeyarwady River. Take in the view as you drive through picturesque landscapes before you reach the base of a fantastic walking trail.
